MAKE TRAVEL FAIR RETURNS STATESIDE

Since my last post things have been quite hectic in the Make Travel Fair office. I went along to the Adventure Travel Show at Olympia a couple of weeks ago and met with a host of different tour operators and travel companies. The Responsible Travel attitude seems to be catching on fast, and a lot of companies now have a responsible tourism policy in place. If you travel with one that doesn't, ask them to write one. A couple of the most exciting new companies that I met are 'Your Safe Planet' and 'Pioneer Expeditions'.

We've added a Forum to the site to try and inspire some discussion, and to provide an alternative means of contacting us. This feature is entirely user driven so if it proves unsuccessful then we may remove it later.

Make Travel Fair have travelled stateside again for a few weeks to work on operations this side of the pond. We will continue to expand the site from here, and contribute regularly to this blog with all the interesting goings on from our new and stimulating surrounds.

NEW YEAR, NEW START

Where to start? It seems to me that Responsible Travel is beginning to gain some considerable momentum. Since working on Make Travel Fair I feel as though I've begun to scratch beneath the generic 'ecotourism' veneer that blankets the world of Responsible Travel. I've learnt a little more about what actually constitutes Responsible Travel and just what work is being done by committed individuals and organizations to bring it to the forefront of the travel industry. I will try to share this information with you over the coming weeks in this blog. Stories seem to be cropping up everyday now that relate in some way or other to the principles that Make Travel Fair is built around.

SITE DEVELOPMENTS
Our website is still very much in its infancy, expanding slowly but surely everyday. I hope that our intentions and the direction that we are taking with the site can begin to be seen more clearly now. The useful, educational and inspirational resource, that we have set out to create for people, to learn about the world and our impact is starting to appear. Our coding expertise are limited but are growing along with the site, allowing us to become a little more creative and user orientated as we progress. Since December we've added a 'history' section, a 'conservation' section and expanded our geography section. Over the coming months we will be working to add content to these areas and increase the overall usability of the site.

THE TELEGRAPH
Make Travel Fair featured in a list of 'Useful Websites' at the end of an article written by Cathy Mack titled 'See the world - and help save it'. The article was published in the Telegraph online at the end of December.
